Chicago ARTillery 2009 Projects

Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival

One of our inaugural projects was the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival. Chicago ARTillery organized and coordinated the art exhibitions, live art masterpiece battle, open studios and indoor art market at this annual festival and brought much more art to the festival than was originally planned for the enjoyment and engagement of all. The temporary art galleries featured a diverse spectrum of art with unique curators at each space. We brought visual stimulus to the neighborhood and created many relationships between artists and the community by using donated empty storefronts along Milwaukee Avenue converted into galleries as well as displaying art in local establishments for the festival.

Live Art Events

Chicago ARTillery organizes live arts events, both community participation and performance events where artists make art in public. We seek to bring art to the people and de-mystify the artist — ensuring art is part of our community everyday. In addition, through our collective painting, art can be made by all and for all. Chicago ARTillery organized three Live Art Events leading up to the 2009 Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival. Artists were invited to participate along with community families to create original paintings as well as participate in collective paintings. The canvases and supplies were donated and funded by local organizations. The completed work was auctioned off at the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival at 2 events to benefit the Paseo Prairie Garden, Unity Park and the Logan Square Farmers Market.Chicago ARTillery also created art works live at the Summer Sessions on the Square throughout the Summer.

Sawyer 3000 Urban Farm

As part of the "Till" of ARTillery, Chicago ARTillery promotes and assists in organizing urban farms and the idea of urban farming. We see growing food as a art form and our very local contribution to Logan Square and the surrounding community.

Ongoing Exhibitions

Chicago ARTillery organizes exhibitions in non-traditional spaces to provide venue for artists including it's core collective members, network members and artists in the city at large and internationally. With a focus on local, we also seek to make relationships with artists everywhere.
