Chicago ARTillery is a collective and network rooted in community involvement, education, the democratic process and engagement with art. CA projects are about transformation and options, very much like activists' efforts to transform communities.

Live Art Events

Chicago ARTillery organizes live arts events, both community participation and performance events where artists make art in public. We seek to bring art to the people and de-mystify the artist — ensuring that artists and art are part of our community everyday. In addition, through our collective painting, art can be made by all and for all.

Chicago ARTillery organized three Live Art Events leading up to the 2009 Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival in Summer 2009. Artists were invited to participate along with families in the community to create original paintings as well as participate in collective paintings. The canvases were and supplies were donated and funded by local organizations. The completed work was auctioned off at the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival 5-hour Gallery and the Silent Art Auction II and Neighborhood Urban Agriculture Fair to benefit Logan Square's Paseo Prairie Garden, Unity Park and the Logan Square Farmers Market.

Chicago ARTillery also created art works live at the Summer Sessions on the Square throughout the Summer. Some of that work was also displayed during the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival.
