Chicago ARTillery is a collective and network rooted in community involvement, education, the democratic process and engagement with art. CA projects are about transformation and options, very much like activists' efforts to transform communities.

Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival | July 31–August 2, 2009

One of our inaugural projects was the Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival. Chicago ARTillery organized and coordinated the art exhibitions, live art masterpiece battle, open studios and indoor art market at this first annual festival and brought much more art to the festival than was originally envisioned for the enjoyment and engagement of all. The temporary art galleries featured a diverse spectrum of art with unique curators at each space. We brought visual stimulus to the neighborhood and created many relationships between artists and the community by using donated empty storefronts along Milwaukee Avenue converted into galleries as well as displaying art in local establishments for the festival.
